Saving Water using Monitoring, Auditing and Modelling

Published at শনিবার 07 নভেম্বর 2020

The scarcity of water in Australia has led to an increased awareness of the need to reduce water consumption. This has also resulted in a range of water efficiency measures being considered, designed and implemented. In order to effectively plan these measures, accurate information about current water usage rates and water quality requirements needs to be gathered. Often the best available information is billing data based on monthly or quarterly readings of ageing meters which can be often too large to measure low flows. This inaccurate data is then used to size and design water savings measures which may be inefficient and expensive. Water flow monitoring at five minute intervals using remote dataloggers provides a range of benefits in reducing water use by identifying leakage and inefficiencies, allowing for the improvement of efficiency of a site and for assessing and designing water savings measures including replacing potable water. This paper outlines the steps involved in utilizing monitoring and conducting audits to gain significant water savings.
