Sustainable Urban Water Management Champions

Published at শনিবার 07 নভেম্বর 2020

This paper presents research findings from an international literature review on the nature of champions (emergent leaders) who promote sustainable urban water management. It argues that the current context of urban water management in Australia has never been more suitable for initiatives that foster forms of leadership (such as championship), highlights the value of sustainable urban water management champions, and summarises the key factors thought to contribute to the emergence and effectiveness of these champions. This research is part of a Ph.D. project within the National Urban Water Governance Research Program (www.urbanwatergovernance.com). The knowledge generated from the literature review has been used to design field research involving champions in four Australian States, and is helping to build evidence-based strategies to enhance the emergence and effectiveness of champions in Australian water agencies. As such, this research aims to help the Australian water sector to deliver the benefits of sustainable urban water management, such as reduced pressure on water supplies and healthier waterways.
